Over the weekend of Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, 50 bags were served to those in need by Mylah Smith, Chelsea Martinez, Tashika Keown and Chavo Killingsworth. Thanks to Officer Thomas Norman, and citizens around Central Arkansas, enough money was raised to purchase everything needed to hydrate and feed homeless men and women across Central Arkansas. The bags were assembled with sandwiches, assorted snacks and candy as well as providing bottled water and Gatorade.
The "Hydrate the Homeless" idea was created by Mylah Smith (20), and it was co-founded by Chelsea Martinez (20). The two young women, both individually dreamed of creating a Non-Profit Organization to give back to less fortunate people across Arkansas and decided to join one another to form the program. Amongst starting the program, we've received an enormous amount of support such as donations, spreading awareness, and kind words and encouragement to continue this program.
The goal of this program is to not only feed and hydrate homeless people, but to serve EVERYONE in need of resources and help in Central Arkansas such as Back to School Drives, Toy Drives, Thanksgiving and Christmas Meals, Emergency and Disaster Relief, Healthcare Screenings, and much more! This is the beginning of a journey to serve and give back to Arkansas and making those who need it, feel loved and taken care of one person at a time.
We thank everyone who has helped along the journey thus far and extend our thank you to those who plan to help us with future events, drives, and programs. We also want to give a huge thank you to Chelsea Martinez, Tashika Keown, Brenda Onyekwele, TaJani Thurman, Chavo Killingsworth, and Officer Tommy Norman for lending a big hand in the start of this program.
